B’Art’Fleur, a cultural association based in Barfleur, Manche, France, is reviving its community engagement efforts after the pandemic. Known for its art-focused events, the group has introduced a new initiative called “Vide-maisons” to foster local interaction and creativity. This event, scheduled for June 7, 2026, aims to transform the village into an open-air marketplace where residents can sell items from their homes, gardens, or garages, promoting sustainability and community bonding.
Un nouveau concept
The “Vide-maisons” concept, set for June 7, 2026, encourages residents to declutter while offering unique shopping experiences. Unlike traditional street markets, all items must be displayed in private spaces, such as gardens or courtyards. Organizers, Cécile Berneron and Sarah Leedam, emphasize that the event will also highlight Barfleur’s architecture and hidden gems. A map of participating homes will guide visitors through the village, blending commerce with exploration.
Thirty property owners have already signed up, with plans to distribute the map at local points of interest. “This is an opportunity to discover what lies behind Barfleur’s walls,” Leedam explains. “It’s about curiosity and connection.”
