Richland School District One inducts Five New Members into Hall of Fame

Columbia, S.C. – Richland School District One celebrated its distinguished alumni adn community members wiht its annual Hall of Fame gala on Saturday evening. The event, held this year on January 10, 2026, recognized five individuals for their significant contributions to education, law, business, athletics, and philanthropy.

This year’s inductees included Titus Duren,a dedicated former principal and educator within the district; Judge richard Gurgel,a respected figure in the South Carolina legal system; Marlene McClurkin,a beloved former teacher known for her commitment to student success; Brian Myers,a prosperous entrepreneur and philanthropist; and Richard Seymour,a celebrated NFL Hall of Famer and Richland One alumnus.

The gala drew a record crowd of 800 attendees, marking a significant milestone for the event and demonstrating strong community support for Richland School District One. The evening also marked the first Hall of Fame gala for newly appointed Superintendent Todd Walker, who expressed his enthusiasm for celebrating the achievements of these exemplary individuals.
