Sydney is set to become the epicenter of the competitive trading card game (TCG) scene as the first-ever Riftbound Regional Qualifier “down under” arrives. From May 15–17, 2026, the Sydney Showground will host players, creators, and enthusiasts for a weekend defined by high-stakes competition and the debut of new strategic expansions.
This event marks a pivotal moment for the League of Legends TCG, transitioning from local play to a structured global circuit. With the introduction of the Unleashed set, the meta is shifting, bringing new Legends and refined strategies to the battlefield.
High Stakes: Prizing and World Championship Qualification
The Regional Qualifier isn’t just about bragging rights; it’s a critical stepping stone for players aiming for the first-ever Riftbound World Championship. The competition is structured to reward both elite performance, and consistency.

The Hunt for Best-Of Legends
Sydney marks the first Regional Qualifier to feature a comprehensive collection of 40 “Best-Of Legends.” These are not standard cards; they are holographic metal Legend cards that serve as trophies of exceptional skill.
These cards span four major sets: Origins, Proving Grounds, Spiritforged, and Unleashed. A Best-Of Legend is awarded to the highest-placing competitor piloting a specific Champion, meaning a player can walk away with a prestigious, tournament-legal collectible regardless of where they finish in the overall standings, provided they were the best pilot of their chosen Champion.
Expanding the Meta: The Unleashed Era
The timing of the Sydney event coincides with the integration of the Unleashed expansion. This update introduces new characters and “uncharted battlefields,” forcing players to adapt their decks. Whether competitors are battling in the intense 1v1 Main Event or participating in 4-person free-for-alls, the inclusion of Unleashed adds a layer of unpredictability to the weekend.
