Kottingbrunn. Maplan and KUKA have signed a letter of intent to further their collaboration in the Elastomer automation robotics to intensify together. The aim is to integrate KUKA robot arms into Maplan’s MAP.mate systems in order to offer customers worldwide advanced automation solutions.

Automate smart now

The cooperation between Maplan and KUKA creates a comprehensive range of 6-axis and SCARA robots that are specifically optimized for the automated processing of elastomers. These robots are integrated into the MAP.commander CC control platform, which leads to increased process reliability and flexibility in production. Users also benefit from improved efficiency through the seamless coordination of the system components.

Integration of robotic systems

The integration of the KUKA robot arms into the Maplan machines enables automation that is particularly effective in demanding elastomer processes. The combination of technologies covers a wide range of applications, including complex handling and manufacturing steps.

Synergies through global presence

Both companies have a global service and support structure. This creates advantages for customers through fast response times and qualified technical support tailored to the specific requirements of elastomer processing.

“With this partnership, we are significantly expanding our automation offering. The powerful KUKA robots perfectly complement our technology and support our vision of intelligent, highly available elastomer production systems,” said Ing. Matthias Tanzer, Business Unit Manager Toolshop & Automation at Maplan.

“MAPLAN is one of the most innovative specialists in elastomer processing in the world. Together we create solutions that offer customers real added value – especially in smart robotics,” explained DI (FH) Reinhard Nagler, KUKA Managing Director.

The following section shows what significance this has for the region.

Joint innovations for elastomer production in the region

The partnership between Maplan and KUKA also has regional relevance, as Maplan is based in Kottingbrunn and thus strengthens jobs and technological developments in the region. The expanded range of automation can bring efficiency improvements and competitive advantages for companies and employees in the industry. Customers benefit from an integrated system that optimizes the production of elastomer products through intelligent control and precise robotics.

Future steps envisage even deeper technical integration and the development of joint innovations. Dates for specific product launches and further cooperation initiatives will be announced in the coming months.
