Rochester Police Arrest Three Following Armed Robbery and Sexual Assault on Lux Street
Rochester, N.Y. – Rochester Police Department (RPD) has arrested three individuals following an armed robbery and sexual assault that occurred Thursday night on Lux Street. The incident prompted a police investigation that shut down a section of the street for several hours.
Details of the Incident
According to RPD, the victim arranged to meet a man she had contacted online. She took a ride-share to a home on Lux Street for the meeting. Upon arrival, two men approached her from behind the house, brandishing a firearm and demanding her property. After the victim complied, she was sexually assaulted by the two men. A third man then emerged from the house and physically assaulted the victim before she was able to flee.
Arrests and Charges
Police surrounded the residence, and a total of eight individuals were brought out. Three were identified as being involved in the assault and were taken into custody. The other five were released.
The following charges have been filed:
- Zyren Drumgoole, 18: Rape, two counts of Robbery, Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of a Weapon
- 16-year-old male: Rape, Robbery, Criminal Possession, Grand Larceny
- Kemaurie Welch, 19: Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Grand Larceny
Evidence Recovered
A search warrant was executed at the home, leading to the recovery of two handguns, including a 3D-printed “ghost gun,” and the victim’s stolen property. RochesterFirst reported on the initial detainment of multiple individuals.
Police Statement
RPD Captain Greg Bello expressed the department’s commitment to holding the suspects accountable. “It’s absolutely horrifying for that victim to experience that,” Bello stated. “We can do our part…we will make that arrest.
