Roland Če’s “Medību Lauki” Announces Debut Album and Latvian Tour
Latvian musician Roland Če is expanding his artistic horizons with “Medību Lauki” (Hunting Fields), a country music project that has quickly gained recognition. Following the release of several singles and an award win, Če is set to release his debut album, “Expedition,” and embark on a five-concert tour across Latvia this summer.
From Hip-Hop to “Outlaw Country”
Known for his work as a rapper and producer, Roland Če is exploring the genre of “outlaw country” with “Medību Lauki.” He finds thematic parallels between the two genres, viewing the shift as a creative challenge and an opportunity to learn a new musical style.
Singles and Accolades
The project began in the summer of 2025 with the release of the debut single, “Citos medību laukos” (In Other Hunting Fields). This was followed by “Vēlos rudens vakaros” (I Want Autumn Evenings) in October. The third single, “Miera pīpe” (Peace Pipe), premiered at the 2025 “GAMMA” music industry awards, where Če was recognized as the best country artist of the year. “Citos medību laukos” is available on all streaming platforms.
“Miera Pīpe” and the Upcoming Album
“Miera pīpe” originated from an early performance at a 2024 concert in Vagonu Street. The song is described as a “situational comedy” with a message of calming down troublemakers, set to a danceable groove. The release of “Miera pīpe” coincides with the announcement of the album “Expedition,” slated for release in early summer.
Latvian Tour: An “Expedition” in Music
This summer, “Medību Lauki” will tour Latvia, with concerts planned in Branka, Kuldīga, Riga, Līgatne, and Rēzekne. Če describes the tour as more than just a series of performances, envisioning it as an immersive experience where music, location, and audience converge. “Medību Lauki” was ranked 14th in the 2025 Muzikālā Banka’s most valuable songs poll. “Vēlos rudens vakaros” is likewise available on streaming platforms.
