Loop 101 Ramp Reopens After Rollover Crash Near I-17 in Phoenix

PHOENIX – The westbound Loop 101 ramp to northbound I-17 in north Phoenix has reopened after being temporarily closed due to a rollover crash involving a truck towing a travel trailer. The incident caused significant traffic backups, but the roadway is now clear as of Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Details of the Incident

The crash occurred on Saturday, February 28, 2026 and prompted the closure of the ramp for several hours whereas crews worked to clear the wreckage. The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) is investigating the cause of the crash, but it remains unclear if anyone was injured as of this reporting.

Ongoing Roadwork in the Area

Motorists traveling on Loop 101 and nearby roadways should be aware of ongoing construction projects that may cause additional delays. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), the following restrictions are in place:

  • 75th Avenue Closures: North- and southbound 75th Avenue are closed between Aspera Boulevard and just south of Loop 101 from 4 a.m. To 6 p.m. On Saturday, February 28. The Loop 101 off-ramps at 75th Avenue and the westbound frontage road (Beardsley Road) starting at 71st Avenue are also closed during this time. Detours are available via 67th or 83rd avenues.
  • 75th Avenue Lane Restrictions: 75th Avenue is narrowed to one through lane in each direction between Rose Garden Lane and Arrowhead Clubhouse Drive through April. Drivers are advised to use 67th or 83rd avenues as alternate routes.
  • Frontage Road Reduction: The eastbound frontage road (Beardsley Road) is reduced to one lane between 37th and 35th avenues through mid-April.
  • 31st and 35th Avenue Nightly Closures: North- and southbound 31st Avenue will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. To 5 a.m. Beginning Tuesday, March 3, and ending the morning of Friday, March 6. North- and southbound 35th Avenue will be closed from 10 p.m. according to ADOT.
