Domestic Abuse Arrest in Rome: Man Detained for Attacking Mother
Rome, Italy – A 54-year-aged man has been arrested by Carabinieri in the Tor Bella Monaca district of Rome on charges of domestic abuse and extortion against his 72-year-old mother. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon on Via Ugento.
Details of the Incident
According to investigators, the altercation began when the man demanded money from his mother, and she refused. The situation escalated, with the man allegedly issuing death threats and then physically assaulting her, striking her in the head with a jar.
Neighbors, alerted by screams, contacted the Carabinieri. Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and detained the 54-year-old. Paramedics transported the injured woman to Casilino Polyclinic, where she remains hospitalized in reserved condition.
History of Domestic Disputes
Checks of the Scudo database, which tracks domestic violence cases, revealed six prior police interventions at the same residence related to similar incidents reported by the victim. The “Red Code” protocol – a procedure for handling high-risk domestic violence situations – was activated.
