Ronda Rousey’s AEW Debut: Is a Full-Time Contract in the Works?
At AEW Revolution 2026, Ronda Rousey shocked the professional wrestling world with her debut appearance, confronting Toni Storm alongside Marina Shafir. While the appearance generated significant buzz, reports indicate Rousey has not yet signed a contract with All Elite Wrestling.
Surprise Appearance at Revolution
Rousey’s arrival at Revolution came after Storm defeated Shafir in a singles match. Following the victory, Rousey entered the ring, initiating a face-to-face confrontation with the multi-time AEW Women’s World Champion. The segment ended with Shafir attacking Storm from behind, allowing Rousey to exit with her associate. Bleacher Report and Sports Illustrated both reported on the debut.
Not Yet “All Elite”
Despite the impactful debut, Fightful Select reports that Rousey is not currently under contract with AEW. eWrestlingNews detailed this information, noting that while Rousey received the desired reaction from the crowd as a heel (villainous character), she reportedly anticipated a different response.
Potential for Future Conflict with WWE
Sources within TKO and WWE, as reported by Fightful Select, suggest they anticipate Rousey will actively seek opportunities to compete against WWE, UFC, and TKO in the future, and do not foresee a return to WWE in the near term.
MMA Return on the Horizon
Rousey is also scheduled to return to mixed martial arts, facing Gina Carano on May 16, 2026, in a fight promoted by MVP (Most Valuable Promotions). This fight will take place in Los Angeles, California, and will be broadcast live on Netflix. Bleacher Report highlighted this upcoming bout, noting it’s Rousey’s first fight in over a decade and Carano’s first since 2009.
Limited Creative Plans Currently
As of now, no follow-up creative plans involving Rousey in AEW have been announced. Her appearance at Revolution was facilitated by her proximity to the event location in Los Angeles.
