House Fire in Drunen Causes Extensive Roof Damage
Drunen, Netherlands – January 25, 2026 – A house fire broke out on the Rhine ring in Drunen on Sunday evening, causing meaningful damage to the property’s roof. Emergency services where initially dispatched with reports of a chimney fire, but quickly persistent the blaze originated within the roof boarding – the wooden planks forming the underlying structure of the roof itself.
Upon arrival, firefighters assessed the situation and immediately escalated the response to a medium-level fire due to visible flames erupting from the roof. The Waalwijk fire brigade deployed an aerial platform and a water truck to combat the fire, supported by two additional tanker trucks to ensure a sufficient water supply for extinguishing efforts.
Firefighters successfully brought the fire under control, though they remained on scene for several hours to fully extinguish the remaining flames. The extent of the damage is considerable, rendering the roof no longer watertight. Authorities are currently investigating options for temporary repairs, with Salvage being considered to assist the resident in securing the property.
The incident drew a large crowd of concerned local residents who gathered to observe the firefighting operation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
