Donate Blood in Madrid for a Chance to Win Rosalía Concert Tickets
The Community of Madrid has launched an initiative to encourage blood and plasma donations, offering donors a chance to win tickets to see Rosalía perform in Madrid on March 30th at the Movistar Arena. The campaign aims to bolster reserves of both blood and plasma components, particularly crucial during the Easter period.
Why Blood and Plasma Donations Matter
Donated blood and plasma are vital, not only for transfusions but also for the production of essential medicines used to treat approximately 6,000 patients. Plasma is obtained through a process called plasmapheresis, which takes about 40 minutes and allows for quick recovery and the possibility of donating again within 48 hours.
How to Participate in the Raffle
Individuals interested in donating and entering the raffle should schedule an appointment by calling 913017240 or emailing donarplasma@salud.madrid.org. Donations are accepted at the Regional Transfusion Center, located on Avenida de la Democracia, corner with Avenida de las Comunidades, in the Valbernardo neighborhood of the Vicálvaro district.
The center is accessible by Metro Line 9 to the Valdebernardo station, as well as by private vehicle. All eligible donors will automatically be entered into the draw for two tickets to the Rosalía concert.
Eligibility Requirements
To donate blood and plasma in Madrid, individuals must be of legal age, weigh more than 50 kilograms (approximately 110 pounds), and be in good health. The Community of Madrid encourages eligible residents to donate at least twice a year.
Upcoming Blood Donation Campaigns in Madrid Hospitals
This initiative is part of a broader series of blood donation marathons taking place in Madrid hospitals throughout the spring and autumn. These campaigns typically generate between 9,000 and 10,000 additional essential blood bags to meet healthcare demands.
Currently, the most needed blood types are 0+ and B-, followed by A+, A-, and 0-.
