The Lakeland Queen is set to return to Rotorua’s lakefront after being purchased by American-born businessman, the son of rich-lister Earl Hagaman. The vessel hasn’t operated as the Covid-19 pandemic and faced an uncertain future before the sale from its previous, liquidated owner.
Dry-docked in october 2021, the lakeland Queen was relaunched in August, pending approvals which were later granted. Hagaman described the project as “mission accomplished” and expressed his family’s enjoyment in being part of the historic restoration.
While his daughter, Kimberley Mules, currently holds the positions of general manager and operations manager, Hagaman clarified that neither she nor other family members have extensive experience in business operations. His own background lies in property growth and building restoration, noting that running a tourism venture falls outside his area of expertise.

The iconic Lakeland Queen boat in Rotorua is up for sale, with owners hoping to see the vessel return to its former glory.
