Rotterdam Court Sentences Armand Sag to Fourteen Months for Stalking Ex-Partner
“My fight is not to win, my fight is not to make her life as miserable as possible, out of revenge that I do not see my children,” the 42-year-old man wrote in a messaging app group. The Rotterdam District Court sentenced Armand Sag in absentia to a 14-month prison term for a multi-year stalking campaign directed against his former partner, nos.lu reported. The conflict between the pair centered primarily on custody arrangements and visitation rights concerning their daughter, a child over whom the man holds no parental authority due to a prior court ruling. To force compliance, Sag bombarded his ex-partner with phone calls, letters, postcards, and unwanted visits to her home, alongside public statements made on television programs and social media platforms.
Defendant Submits Falsified Police Report and Harasses Woman Online
The harassment escalated significantly across digital platforms. In a LinkedIn post, the defendant accused the woman of infidelity with a married man during their relationship, while messages in the “Actie voor vaders” chat group detailed his explicit intent to make her life as difficult as possible out of revenge, according to nos.lu.
Beyond public defamation, Sag submitted a falsified police report accusing the woman of child abduction. To substantiate the false filing, he provided fabricated observation reports allegedly written by prison guards at the correctional facility where he was incarcerated for illegal arms trafficking, the Volkskrant reported.
One Hundred Sixteen Legal Proceedings and Flight to Turkey
The stalking extended far beyond social media and false police filings. The defendant initiated 116 separate lawsuits against his former partner, a volume of litigation characterized by excessive and protracted procedural actions launched on minimal grounds or false pretenses, geenstijl.nl reported. He also secured financial penalty orders and filed formal complaints against the woman with the police, the local municipality, the Salvation Army, and a child protection agency. The Rotterdam court ruled that while the man possessed the legal right to file complaints, the cumulative effect of his relentless campaign directly violated the woman’s private life.
The continuous harassment inflicted severe psychological damage, leaving the victim with a complex post-traumatic stress disorder that rendered her permanently disabled for work, according to reporting cited from the Volkskrant. In addition to the fourteen-month prison sentence, the court imposed a strict contact and geographic restraining order.
Sag remains abroad and did not attend the proceedings. Having traveled to Turkey a year prior to visit his dying father while awaiting the trial, he has refused to return to the Netherlands, a stance confirmed to the court by his defense attorney, nos.lu reported.
