Jude Bellingham shines in England 7-0 rout of Croatia
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham produced one of his most complete performances in an England shirt during a 7-0 victory over Croatia in Rijeka, directly contributing to four goals with one strike and three assists. England manager Thomas Tuchel left Bellingham out of his squad in October 2025, demanding he earn his spot without special treatment. Bellingham responded by finishing as England’s top scorer with seven goals during their run to the World Cup semi-finals and a third-place finish.
Roy Keane and pundits praise Bellingham’s complete skill set
Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane told ITV that Bellingham possesses the traits to become one of the greatest players in history. Keane highlighted his power in running, passing accuracy, and goal threat, noting that his influence extends to his defensive work and off-the-ball movement. Former England defender Matt Upson identified Bellingham as the ideal candidate to occupy the playmaker role for the national team moving forward. Meanwhile, former England forward Ian Wright praised his relentless physical energy, pointing out that his constant runs into the penalty area trouble opposition defenders.
Historical milestones and attacking dominance in Rijeka
Bellingham became the first player to provide three assists in a single England match since Trent Alexander-Arnold accomplished the feat against San Marino in November 2021. The dominant team performance saw Bukayo Saka and Harry Kane score two goals apiece, while Anthony Gordon added another. Kane scored his 89th international goal before being substituted in the 70th minute, at which point he handed the captain’s armband to Bellingham for the remainder of the match.
