RTÉ recently returned a Gerard Dillon painting, valued at €60,000, to Taylor galleries in Dublin on December 18th. The gallery asserted its ownership of the artwork last year.
The painting, titled ‘Kitchen Interior with Seated Woman,’ resided within RTÉ for at least four decades, prominently displayed in the office of the Company Secretary. RTÉ director General Kevin Backhurst revealed in October that the association actively searched for documentation to substantiate the painting’s history and ownership.
Taylor Galleries has been approached for comment regarding the return of the artwork. This progress concludes a period of inquiry into the provenance of the piece and marks its return to its rightful owner.
