Bisnis.com JAKARTA – The rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar is estimated to fluctuate, but is at risk of closing lower in the range of Rp. 16,730-Rp. 16,770 per US dollar in today’s trading, Tuesday (18/11/2025).
Based on Bloomberg data, the rupiah closed up 0.17% to IDR 16,736 per US dollar on Monday (17/11/2025). Simultaneously occurring, at the same time, the US dollar index strengthened 0.25% to 99.31.
Currency and commodities analyst Ibrahim Assuaibi said investors are increasingly confident that the Federal Reserve is unlikely to ease policy any time soon. This was conveyed by several policy makers of The Fed wich emphasized that inflation remains high and labor market conditions have not weakened significantly.
Rate-cutting sentiment was further hit by the recent data outage caused by the US government shutdown, which left investors without key macro indicators for weeks. The government shutdown delayed releases from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, including its September non-farm payrolls report, which will now be released on thursday.
According to Ibrahim,today traders will take more cues from speeches by several Fed officials. John Williams, Philip Jefferson, Neel kashkari, and Christopher Waller are scheduled to speak today.
Domestically, Bank Indonesia projects national economic growth in 2026 to reach 5.33%. This figure is lower than what the government has set at 5.4%.
This projection is prepared by taking into account the monetary policy that BI will pursue to encourage economic growth. This projection is lower than that set by the government in the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).
