Russian forces launched a widespread barrage of jet-powered attack drones targeting Kyiv and the surrounding region on September 26, damaging residential buildings, critical infrastructure, and industrial sites while injuring multiple civilians. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and regional officials reported strikes and falling debris across multiple districts of the capital and six districts of the wider Kyiv region.
Kyiv Infrastructure and Residential Areas Hit by Drones
Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that falling drone debris struck an open area near private homes in the Solomianskyi district. In the Obolonskyi district, a drone hit a non-residential building, injuring at least one person.
Additional strikes in the Solomianskyi district sparked fires at a five-story residential building and a ground-floor shop, where emergency crews rescued 20 people and treated four injured residents, Klitschko stated. A separate strike hit an office building in the same district. Meanwhile, the pharmaceutical plant Darnitsa in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district sustained an attack during the morning hours, though company representatives reported no injuries among staff and urged informational silence.
Telecom and Data Centers Disruptions
Russian strikes targeted vital data infrastructure in the capital, damaging a data center operated by Cosmonova and disrupting its core network. Internet provider Kolo.TB also reported equipment damage, prompting technicians to deploy backup power and reroute network traffic. The strikes knocked out signal delivery for several television channels, including Army TV, My-Ukraine+, and Novyny.LIVE.
Kyiv Region Damages and Civilian Injuries
In the surrounding Kyiv region, overnight strikes damaged homes and industrial facilities across six districts, according to regional head Timur Tkachuk and the State Emergency Service. Five people were injured across the region, including two children.
In the Boryspil district, two adults sustained shrapnel wounds and required hospitalization. Three people, including two children, were injured in the Obukhiv district, suffering from acute stress reactions and lacerations. Regional military administration figures indicate that strikes damaged 23 distinct objects throughout the Kyiv region, including residential properties in Bucha, Fastiv, Vyshhorod, Brovary, and Obukhiv, alongside industrial and warehouse structures.
