Russian Skiers to Compete as Neutral Athletes in Davos World Cup
Two Russian cross-country skiers have been approved by the International Ski Federation (FIS) to compete as neutral athletes in the upcoming World Cup competitions in Davos, Switzerland. This participation offers them a pathway to possibly qualify for the olympic Games in Febuary.
Savelij Korosteljov, 22, demonstrated significant talent at the 2022 Junior World Championships (JWC), securing both gold and silver medals in individual events. Joining him will be Daria Neprjajeva, 23, the younger sister of Natalia Terentieva, a three-time Olympic medalist from 2022. Neprjajeva also achieved success at the 2022 JWC, winning a gold medal.
Both Korosteljov and Neprjajeva have been granted permission to compete in Davos, providing them with a crucial chance to earn qualification points for the Olympics. The FIS decision allows these athletes to continue competing at the international level despite ongoing geopolitical considerations.
