Lomberg’s Explosive Shift ignites Flames Victory

CALGARY – Ryan Lomberg scored a goal and dropped the gloves-all on one shift. He immediately thought of a Gordie Howe hat trick.

“Probably right when my gloves came off,” Lomberg laughed after his first-period goal and fight against the Vegas Golden Knights electrified the Saddledome on Saturday.

“I told my linemates, ‘if I give it to you in the offensive zone, don’t pass it back-shoot it.'”

Lomberg didn’t get an assist, but he earned the team’s player-of-the-game jacket, a Hockey Night in canada towel, and the continued respect of teammates and fans who love his energetic play.

With the Calgary flames leading 2-1 against a tough Vegas team, the energized Christmas crowd roared when Lomberg received a breakaway pass from Connor Zary. He then skillfully scored his second goal, threading the puck through Akira Schmid.
