A total of 147 courses were conducted last semester, with approximately 1,700 participants enrolled. English courses are the most popular, drawing 316 participants. Other highly sought-after courses include spinal gymnastics (140 participants), yoga (124 participants), patchwork (122 participants), back fit (92 participants), Zumba (78 participants), and creative design with clay (67 participants). Qi-Gong, bread-making seminars, and line dancing also maintain a dedicated following.

Geographic Reach and Accessibility

While Saalfeld hosts the majority of courses (84 out of 147, representing around 57% and 791 of the participants – approximately 56%), the Kreisvolkshochschule extends its reach to Rudolstadt (37 courses) and other communities including Cursdorf, Gräfenthal, Bad Blankenburg, Krölpa, Königsee, and Katzhütte. This decentralized approach ensures educational opportunities are available throughout the district, even in rural areas.
