Sabrina Scampini cuts Diario del Giorno feed after resident’s profanity

Television host Sabrina Scampini abruptly cut a live broadcast of Rete 4’s talk show Diary of the Day on Thursday, September 24, after an 84-year-old resident shouted a blasphemous profanity on air during a segment about housing displacement in Milan’s Quarto Oggiaro neighborhood. The incident unfolded as elderly resident Giovanna appealed directly to the mayor regarding her imminent eviction risk before breaking into profanity.

The Broadcast Incident on Diario del Giorno

The afternoon talk show was reporting on local families facing potential eviction in the northern Italian city. While speaking with the show’s reporter, an 84-year-old resident identified as Giovanna addressed local officials directly. According to the broadcast transcript reported by Libero Magazine, the resident stated, “Please, I would ask, for everyone here, to give us accommodation. Because we are already elderly, we need tranquility.” Moments later, as she escalated her appeal for intervention, she added a blasphemous curse: “Mr. Mayor, please, get a move on, do something, you damn sh*t.”

Host Sabrina Scampini reacted immediately by placing her hands over her face and severing the live satellite feed within seconds. Recovering composure on air, Scampini told viewers, “No, no, no! Scusate, mi dispiace, io capisco tutte le difficoltà però non si può.” The swift termination of the segment prevented further unscripted remarks from being broadcast.

Platform Edits and Social Media Circulation

Following the live transmission, Mediaset modified the on-demand archive version of the episode hosted on Mediaset Infinity. Editors removed the segment containing the resident’s profanity and the host’s subsequent interruption. Viewers accessing the catch-up platform no longer find the specific exchange.

Despite the platform edit, recorded clips circulated rapidly across social media platforms, amplifying the incident online. The broadcast occurred just hours after a separate profanity incident involving competitor reality programming on Mediaset networks, where contestant Simone Annicchiarico faced immediate disqualification from the Big Brother VIP house.

Previous On-Air Outbursts Involving Sabrina Scampini

The Quarto Oggiaro broadcast follows another recent technical mishap involving Scampini at the end of August. While hosting 4 PM Weekend, an open microphone caught her criticizing the network’s production choices regarding a news segment about Italian politician Alessandro Di Battista. Her unscripted remark—”Ragazzi scusate io non posso partire parlando di Alessandro Di Battista mezzo morto con la sigla a palla in studio”—also circulated widely online as a viral clip before the host clarified that her criticism targeted editorial pacing rather than the subject’s personal circumstances.
