Saint-Orens: Villa Massot Transformation Unveiled with Public Open Day
The city of Saint-Orens, located just outside Toulouse, is nearing completion of a significant renovation project at Villa Massot. The historic building and its surrounding park are undergoing a complete transformation to become a new community hub. This Saturday, February 28, 2026, the municipality will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the project with a special public open day.
A Historical Building Reimagined
Purchased by the city of Saint-Orens in June 2023 for €1.757 million, the 1910 Villa Massot had been largely hidden from view for years. The renovation aims to create “a place of life open to all,” according to the municipality, and integrate the historical heritage into the heart of the town. The project is considered a key component in the revitalization of the city center.
Guided Tours of the Construction Site
On February 28th, residents and interested individuals can seize guided tours of the construction site, led by the architecture firm V2S. Tours will be conducted in groups of 15 and require advance registration on the city’s website. The open day provides an opportunity to observe the restoration process and visualize the future spaces.
What to Expect at Villa Massot
The Villa Massot project will create an intergenerational community space featuring several key elements:
- Game Library: A dedicated space for children and all generations, including a patio for outdoor activities.
- 5,000 m² Park: A “true island of freshness” with century-vintage trees and new pathways for relaxation and recreation.
- Community Services: The villa will house socio-educational partners, including Maternal and Child Protection services, the Maison des Solidarités, and the ARPADE association.
- Youth Support: Dedicated services for parents and young people, such as Mix’Ados (for ages 11-17) and Info Jeunes (up to age 25).
- Multipurpose Spaces: Areas for local associations and community events.
Project Timeline and Budget
The completion of the project is anticipated for the end of April or early May 2025, dependent on weather conditions. The total cost of the rehabilitation is estimated at €4.9 million, with €2.2 million expected in grants.
