Salesforce Acquires Clockwise Team to Bolster Agentic AI Efforts

Salesforce has acquired the team behind Clockwise, an AI-powered calendar scheduling application, but will discontinue the Clockwise product itself on March 27, 2026. The move is a strategic acqui-hire aimed at strengthening Salesforce’s Agentforce team and its focus on “agentic enterprise” capabilities.

What Happened to Clockwise?

Clockwise, which had raised $76 million in funding, will cease operations, including the removal of Focus Time blocks, the disabling of Scheduling Links, and the termination of Flexible Meetings. Byteiota reports that the shutdown impacts eight million hours of Focus Time and 23 million optimized meetings.

The company is offering refunds to customers with prepaid services extending beyond the shutdown date and is recommending users migrate to Reclaim, offering price matching for migrating customers. Clockwise assures users that Salesforce will not have access to their data.

Why Did Salesforce Acquire Clockwise?

Salesforce isn’t interested in the Clockwise product itself, but rather the expertise of its team in building “reliable, agentic software.” The Register reports that Salesforce clarified this was not a technology acquisition. A Salesforce spokesperson stated, “Salesforce is not acquiring Clockwise or its technology. We glance forward to welcoming members of the Clockwise team to Salesforce, where they will join the Agentforce team.”

The Clockwise team, including co-founders Gary Lerhaupt, Matt Martin, and Mike Grinolds, brings valuable AI-powered scheduling expertise to Salesforce. Acquiring a proven team is often faster and more efficient than individual recruitment, particularly in a competitive talent market.

The Agentforce Connection

The acquired team will join Salesforce’s Agentforce organization, focusing on building “Agent Interoperability and Orchestration.” Matt Martin, Clockwise CEO and co-founder, stated the team will bring its expertise to the “Agentic Enterprise.”

Gary Lerhaupt, who rejoined Salesforce prior to the full team acquisition, is now Vice President of Product Architecture for Agentforce. Martin is also joining the Agentforce team, having previously worked at Salesforce as a software engineer from 2014 to 2016.

What is Agentic AI?

Agentic AI refers to artificial intelligence systems that can act autonomously to achieve specific goals. These “agents” can plan, prioritize, and execute tasks without constant human intervention. Salesforce is investing heavily in this area to enhance its Agentforce platform, aiming to empower its users with more intelligent and automated tools.
