Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 6 during its Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris, introducing a narrower outer display and a thinner titanium-framed chassis compared to its predecessor. According to Samsung, the device measures 12.1mm when folded and weighs 239 grams, making it lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Design and Display Specifications

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. According to Samsung specifications, the outer cover screen measures 6.3 inches with an aspect ratio of 22.1:9, providing a wider canvas than the Z Fold 5’s 23.1:9 ratio. The device incorporates armor aluminum frames and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the exterior surfaces.

Hardware and Performance

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, the smartphone includes 12GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB. According to Samsung hardware disclosures, the cooling system utilizes a vapor chamber that is 1.6 times larger than the one found in the previous generation to manage thermal performance during sustained tasks.

Camera System

The camera array on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 mirrors the hardware configuration of the previous generation. According to Samsung’s official spec sheet, the device houses a 50-megapixel primary wide sensor with optical image stabilization, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. The cover display includes a 10-megapixel selfie camera, while the under-display camera on the inner screen remains at 4 megapixels.

Software and Galaxy AI Integration

Running on Android 14 with One UI 6.1.1, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 integrates several artificial intelligence tools branded as Galaxy AI. According to Samsung announcements, features include Note Assist for automated summaries, Interpreter for live conversational translation, and Sketch to Image, which transforms user drawings into rendered images.

Pricing and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 starts at $1,899 in the United States and £1,799 in the United Kingdom. According to Samsung retail details, pre-orders opened on July 10, 2024, with general retail availability beginning on July 24, 2024.
