Samsung Unveils Slideable Smartphone Concept at MWC 2026
Jakarta, Indonesia – Samsung is pushing the boundaries of smartphone design, showcasing a modern slideable concept phone at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026. Although foldable phones have gained traction, Samsung’s latest innovation offers a different approach to expanding screen real estate.
A New Approach to Expandable Displays
Unlike current foldable phones that crease as they bend, Samsung’s Mobile Slideable concept features a screen that extends horizontally, sliding out from the device’s body. A video demonstration shared by Android Authority shows the screen being smoothly pulled to reveal a larger display area.
Screen Specifications
The concept phone’s screen expands from a compact 5.1 inches to a more expansive 6.7 inches. In its retracted state, the screen maintains a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. When fully extended, the aspect ratio shifts to 22:9, catering to landscape viewing. The display boasts a resolution of 1,080 x 2,640 pixels (FHD+) and a pixel density of 426ppi, according to Android Authority .
Still a Concept
It’s essential to note that the Mobile Slideable remains a concept device. Samsung is continuing development, and there is no confirmed timeline for when – or if – this technology will be integrated into a commercially available smartphone. This isn’t Samsung’s first foray into unconventional form factors; the company previously demonstrated a multi-scrollable concept phone called Flex Slidable in 2022, but updates on that project have been limited.
