San Antonio Weather: Spring Arrives with a Frigid Twist

San Antonio residents are bracing for a dramatic temperature swing as spring approaches. While the official arrival of spring is set for March 20th, the city will experience both record highs and a late-season cold snap this week, according to Texas Public Radio.

Weekend Warmth Gives Way to Arctic Air

This weekend, San Antonio could see temperatures reach the 80s and 90s. However, a cold front is expected to sweep across the region Sunday night, bringing a significant drop in temperatures. Monday morning will see lows in the lower 40s, with Tuesday morning experiencing even colder temperatures in the upper 30s.

Dramatic Temperature Swing

The temperature difference between Sunday’s highs and Tuesday’s lows will be more than 50 degrees. Monday and Tuesday’s highs will be in the 60s, before climbing back towards 80 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

Gusty Winds Expected

Along with the cold front, San Antonio will experience gusty winds out of the north-northeast, reaching speeds of 30 to 35 miles per hour on Sunday night and Monday. Texas Public Radio reports that, unfortunately, the cold front is not expected to bring any precipitation.

Spring Officially Arrives March 20th

Despite the late chill, the official first day of spring will arrive in San Antonio on March 20th. Long-term forecasts suggest that freezing temperatures are not expected after this date. Texas Public Radio on Facebook indicates that the long-term forecast is devoid of freezing temperatures.
