Park Bom and Sandara Park: Drug Allegations and 2NE1 Fallout
Recent allegations made by former 2NE1 member Park Bom have stirred controversy within the K-pop world, implicating fellow member Sandara Park in a drug-related cover-up. The claims, initially shared in a now-deleted handwritten letter, have prompted responses from Sandara Park and reignited discussions surrounding past incidents involving the group and their former agency, YG Entertainment.
Park Bom’s Allegations
Park Bom alleged that Sandara Park was involved in a drug case and that, to conceal this, she was falsely portrayed as a drug addict. She specifically mentioned the drug Adderall, explaining she is a patient with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and that Adderall is not a narcotic, but is banned in South Korea despite being FDA-approved in the United States. Philstar.com reports that Park Bom also addressed YG Entertainment, its founder Yang Hyun-suk, music producer Teddy, and fellow 2NE1 member CL in her post.
Park Bom’s claims stem from a 2010 incident where she imported Adderall into South Korea without proper declaration to customs or approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Prosecutors suspended indictment at that time, recognizing the medication was for treatment purposes. Philstar.com
Sandara Park’s Response
Sandara Park responded to Park Bom’s allegations on March 4th, stating, “I have never used drugs. I hope she is healthy.” She also added the same message in English, expressing her well-wishes for Park Bom. Hype.my
Past Controversies and YG Entertainment
Park Bom’s recent post also revisited past issues with YG Entertainment. She expressed hope that YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun-suk, Teddy, and CL would cease reporting to authorities that she used more than the prescribed amount of a drug she hasn’t taken in nearly 30 years. Philstar.com
In October of the previous year, Park Bom also made accusations against YG Entertainment executive producer Yang Hyun-suk, alleging she had not received payment for 2NE1’s activities. An agency official responded at the time, stating that settlement related to 2NE1’s activities had already been completed and that Park Bom was focusing on treatment and recovery, describing her as emotionally unstable and in need of rest.
