India’s Sanskar Saraswat bagged the men’s singles title at the Guwahati Masters 2025 badminton tournament while Junior World Championships silver medallist Tanvi Sharma fell short in the women’s singles final on Sunday.
The 19-year-old Sanskar Saraswat, 384th in the men’s singles badminton rankings, claimed a hard-fought win over world No. 76 shuttler Mithun Manjunath, prevailing 21-11, 17-21, 21-13 in a 50-minute final.
The win marked Sanskar Saraswat’s maiden Super 100 title.

Guwahati, India – December 7, 2025 – Sanskar Saraswat of India secured his first Super 100 title, winning the men’s singles crown at the Guwahati Masters 2025 badminton tournament. Meanwhile,India’s promising young talent,Tanvi Sharma,fought valiantly but was defeated in the women’s singles final by Chinese Taipei’s Tung Ciou-Tong.
The men’s singles final was a hard-fought contest. after a tight start with scores tied at 8-all, Saraswat increased his pace, taking a narrow lead into the mid-game interval. He then dominated the remainder of the first game, reeling off seven consecutive points.
Manjunath responded strongly in the second game,leveling the match at 16-all and forcing a deciding game. However,Saraswat regained his composure and controlled the final game to clinch the victory. He had previously demonstrated strong form in the semi-finals, defeating Indonesia’s Dendi Triansyah 21-19, 21-19.
In the women’s singles final, 16-year-old Tanvi Sharma displayed impressive resilience against the more experienced Tung Ciou-Tong. Despite leading in both games – 12-8 and later 16-14 in the first, and 13-8 in the second – Sharma was unable to maintain her advantage as Tung Ciou-Tong mounted strong comebacks to win 21-18, 21-18.
Despite the loss, 2025 has been a remarkable year for Tanvi Sharma, highlighted by a Denmark Open International Challenge title in May, a runner-up finish at the US Open Super 300 in June, and reaching the final of the World Junior Championships in October, and also the Odisha Masters final in 2024.
The men’s doubles title went to Malaysia’s Kang Khai Xing and Aaron Tai, who defeated India’s Pruthvi Krishnamurthy roy and Sai Pratheek K 21-13, 21-18.
