Private Donations Keep Sociedad Anticancerosa de Venezuela Afloat

Financial survival and operational continuity at the Sociedad Anticancerosa de Venezuela (SAV) rely heavily on ongoing private donations and corporate contributions. Operating for four decades as a vital pillar alongside the national public health system, the institution utilizes these funds to deliver accessible oncological diagnostics, specialized treatments, and human support to low-income patients.

Specialized Care and Subsidized Diagnostics

Continuous financial support ensures that the SAV can offer timely medical interventions. The institution has evolved from a preventative clinic into a highly specialized center capable of providing mammographies, endoscopies, colonoscopies, specific laboratory tests, and psychological and nutritional support.

Without this funding, patients face severe barriers that can halt life-saving treatments. This financial framework allows the organization to subsidize examinations, supply necessary medical inputs, and maintain multidisciplinary care teams.

Survivors Share Firsthand Accounts of Relief

Biannes Martines, a 63-year-old survivor associated with the SAV since her twenties, experienced the organization’s reach firsthand through her family’s medical history, which included her mother’s cancer diagnosis in 2014 and her own subsequent successful surgery.

“The donation always reaches the patient, whether in a half-price exam, in supplies, or in the effort of a medical team that gives its face for you,” Martines stated. She noted that programs such as AIPO-Seno provide both physical treatment and crucial mental health and nutritional backing.

Early Detection for Vulnerable Populations

Liseth Machado, another survivor, emphasized the importance of early detection and subsidized care for vulnerable populations. After discovering a small anomaly in her breast, Machado consulted a mastologist immediately through the network.

“The people of low-income like me do not have how to cost such a difficult disease. This economic support really saves lives like mine,” Machado said.

Channels for Corporate and Individual Giving

To maintain its diagnostic and treatment programs, the SAV accepts donations through bank transfers and mobile payments.
