Kanye West Saint Petersburg Concerts Face Cancellation Risk

The October 10 and October 11 performances at Gazprom Arena are currently unconfirmed by venue management, while federal consumer watchdogs have flagged the organizer’s website for legal violations.

Rospotrebnadzor Issues Formal Warning to Say Agency

According to TASS, Russia’s consumer protection watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, issued a formal warning to Say Agency over multiple violations of the Consumer Protection Act.

Agency head Anna Subcheva acknowledged the warning while defending the company’s business practices. “We acted within the framework of Russian legislation. Now the agency’s specialists will analyze the situation jointly with Rospotrebnadzor representatives,” Subcheva told TASS.

Regulatory Review Uncovers Website and Refund Violations

The regulatory review found that the organizer’s website failed to display complete information regarding the seller and the products offered. Furthermore, the site’s ticket refund terms directly contradicted Article 16 of the consumer protection law, prompting the agency to mandate immediate corrections.

Gazprom Arena Denies Finalized Venue Lease

The status of the Saint Petersburg shows remains precarious due to an absent lease agreement.

Gazprom Arena publicly stated that no rental contract has been finalized with the event organizers, rendering the scheduled dates impossible to fulfill under current conditions. Despite the venue’s statement, Say Agency maintains that the concerts have not been officially called off and reports ongoing communication with the artist’s team.

Legal Analysts Warn of Potential Fraud Investigation

Speaking to Mentoday.ru, expert Nekrasov noted that ticket buyers who face cancellations could demand compensation for associated expenses, including travel and hotel bookings. Nekrasov added that even if the agency fulfills full refunds, law enforcement could launch a fraud investigation because the organizer initiated ticket sales prior to securing local authority approvals or a finalized venue contract.
