The Westwinds choir is under the direction of Fredonia alumnus Kent Knappenberger (’87 Music Education), who was honored as the inaugural recipient of the GRAMMY Music Educator Award in 2014. This recognition celebrates his outstanding contributions to music education and his impact on students through innovative teaching and leadership.

During the concert, the Westwinds will perform pieces composed by retired SUNY Fredonia professor Dr. Keith Petersen in 1995, originally written for the Fredonia Chamber Singers. The program highlights a collaboration between current students, faculty, and distinguished alumni, showcasing the enduring strength of Fredonia’s music community.

The event is free and open to the public, offering an opportunity to experience a diverse range of choral works in one of the region’s premier performance venues. Rosch Recital Hall, located in Mason Hall, provides a state-of-the-art setting for the concert, supporting both artistic excellence and technical precision in sound recording and performance.

This concert reflects the Fredonia School of Music’s ongoing commitment to fostering musical excellence, alumni engagement, and community outreach through accessible, high-quality performances.
