The project originated with Stéphane Galland, a drummer known for his work with Aka Moon and Ibrahim Maalouf, receiving carte blanche at the 2025 Jazz Middelheim festival in Antwerp.1 He enlisted his son, Elvin Galland, a classically trained pianist and producer who has collaborated with artists like Damso and Manu Katché. Seeking a vocalist to complete the ensemble, they approached Selah Sue.
