Southeast Missouri State Tennis Welcomes Dutch Player Pien de Greef
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri (SEMO) Tennis team has announced the signing of Pien de Greef, a promising tennis player from the Netherlands, for the 2026-27 season.
De Greef currently holds an International Tennis Federation (ITF) ranking of 1625 [ITF Profile]. She expressed her enthusiasm for joining the Redhawks, stating, “I chose SEMO as I had a great feeling about it, and I believe I can improve both as a player and a person.”
Team Player with a Tennis Background
Head coach Steve Brooks highlighted de Greef’s potential as a team player, noting that her competitive experience has largely been in team play. “I am excited to add Pien to our roster. She has not traveled much internationally, and her competition has mostly been team play. That tells me she is a team player. She did win an ITF J30 doubles title in Rotterdam,” Brooks said.
De Greef’s tennis lineage includes a mother who competed on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour and currently owns AmJoy Tennis Academy in the Netherlands. AmJoy Academy previously coached a player ranked #1 in the world for boys.
De Greef is the second player to commit to the Redhawks for the 2026-27 season.
