Friedland, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – A serious traffic accident occurred on Autobahn A20 near Friedland on March 13, 2026, resulting in severe injuries to three occupants of a Grand Cherokee vehicle. The incident caused a four-hour closure of the highway while emergency services responded and the scene was cleared.
Details of the Accident
According to initial reports from the Neubrandenburg Police Headquarters, the driver of the Grand Cherokee was traveling eastbound on the A20 when a tire failure caused the vehicle to lose control. The car veered off the road to the right and rolled over several times before coming to rest on its roof in the shoulder of the highway.
The driver, a 54-year-aged male, along with a 54-year-old female passenger and an 11-year-old boy, sustained serious injuries. All three were transported to hospitals in Neubrandenburg and Greifswald for treatment. Neubrandenburg Police Headquarters confirmed all individuals involved are German citizens.
