The candidates for the latest administrative elections, elected representatives, and members of Forza Italia Matera, along with those who worked to ensure the party could present a list in recent elections, and Forza Italia Provinciale, express dismay and firm opposition to the decision of the Board of Arbitrators to readmit regional councilor Michele Casino to forza Italia. This is according to a press release issued by Forza Italia Matera and Forza Italia Provinciale, reproduced in full below.
this provision, approved in recent days by the party’s supervisory bodies, is considered a profoundly inappropriate and inconsistent gesture with respect to the principles and values that Forza Italia proclaims to defend.
to briefly recall the events leading to Michele Casino’s suspension from the party, last April, ahead of the Matera municipal elections, then-leader of FI in the Regional Council of Basilicata, Hon. Casino, was suspended from all positions for publicly supporting his son Nicola’s candidacy in an electoral competition (the so-called “youth primaries”) promoted by civic forces choice to the center-right. Forza Italia leaders deemed this behavior “conduct that damages the image of Forza Italia and fuels confusion among the electorate,” a clear violation of the party’s political line. regional coordinator Sen.Elisabetta Casellati reiterated that “clarity and coherence are non-negotiable values” for Forza Italia. On the same occasion, the senator described Casino’s actions as “unspeakable and unjustified,” undermining “the credibility of our work and confusing voters.”
