Seth Curry’s Return to Warriors Hampered by Sciatica Management, Ruled Out Against Bulls
Golden State Warriors guard Seth Curry will sit out Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Bulls due to left sciatic injury management, just one day after making his return to the court following a 40-game absence.
Curry’s Long Road Back
Curry played 12 minutes in Monday’s 119-116 loss to the Utah Jazz, scoring 13 points and providing a spark off the bench. However, the Warriors are taking a cautious approach with the veteran sharpshooter as he returns from a debilitating sciatic nerve issue.
Sciatica Struggles
Curry hadn’t played since December 4th, and at one point, he wasn’t sure he’d return at all this season. He described a period of nearly complete immobility due to the injury. “There was like a month where I couldn’t move at all,” Curry said after Monday’s game. “I really couldn’t move. I was just laying at home.”
The recovery process began to show progress around the All-Star break, allowing him to participate in live basketball activity again. “I feel over the All-Star break I made a jump,” Curry explained. “I was working on continuing rehab and came back and played some live action. That’s when I knew I’d be able to get back eventually.”
Efficient Performance Upon Return
Despite the lengthy layoff, Curry demonstrated his ability to contribute immediately, shooting 4-of-6 from the field, including two three-pointers, and dishing out three assists. He noted his ability to quickly contribute even without being in game rhythm is a skill he’s honed throughout his career. “Luckily, my whole career I’ve been a guy who could sit and jump in,” Curry said. “For whatever reason, I’ve had a knack for coming in with no rhythm and being able to contribute.”
Warriors Prioritizing Long-Term Health
The Warriors are managing Curry’s workload carefully to prevent any setbacks. Back and nerve-related injuries can be unpredictable, and the team wants to ensure a smooth and sustainable return for the veteran guard. While Curry will miss Tuesday’s game against the Bulls, the Warriors hope he can provide a valuable boost during the final stretch of the regular season.
