The Shanxi Provincial Drug Administration and the Jinzhong Municipal People’s Government launched the province’s medical device “Chunyu Action” news conference alongside a public service platform for pharmaceutical innovation and transformation on September 9, 2026, in Jinzhong, China. According to the China Food and Drug News, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between clinical needs and industrial manufacturing by establishing a comprehensive innovation ecosystem.
Launching the Chunyu Action and Public Service Platform
The opening event, themed "Chunyu Nourishes Medical Engineering, Innovation Benefits Three Jin," brought together over 180 representatives from provincial universities, medical institutions, and pharmaceutical companies.
During the launch, officials activated the newly developed provincial pharmaceutical innovation and transformation public service platform. Jointly established by the Shanxi Provincial Drug Administration and the Jinzhong municipal government, the platform functions as an information hub and service station designed to connect government agencies, medical facilities, research institutes, enterprises, and financial institutions.
Building a Full-Chain Innovation Ecosystem
Li Tingfang, Party Secretary and Director of the Shanxi Provincial Drug Administration, stated at the conference that medical devices form the core material foundation of modern clinical diagnosis and treatment. According to Li, the multi-departmental “Chunyu Action” is designed to create a pipeline that accelerates clinical innovations into marketable medical products by aligning research directly with clinical value.
To address practical challenges in bringing medical technologies to market, the event featured a specialized training session. Industry experts and enterprise representatives delivered lectures covering medical research excavation, patent layout, industry-academia-research coordination, and navigating the path from laboratory development to commercial release.
Regulatory Coordination and Future Outlook
During a dedicated media Q&A session, representatives from the Shanxi Provincial Health Commission, Market Supervision Bureau, Healthcare Security Administration, Drug Administration, and the Jinzhong Economic and Technological Development Zone addressed public and press inquiries. Officials fielded questions regarding foundational clinical innovation support, product safety, intellectual property protection, insurance reimbursement policies, and hardware-software infrastructure.
According to event organizers, the initiative implements strategic provincial development plans and advances national medical device regulatory reforms. Moving forward, the Shanxi Provincial Drug Administration and cooperating agencies intend to use the newly launched public service platform to streamline innovation services, strengthen policy coordination, and support the growth of the provincial medical device industry.
