Sheinbaum Pardo’s Morning Conference: Agreements to Combat Violence Against Women and Gasoline Price Stability
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo led her daily morning conference on March 11, 2026, from the National Palace, addressing key national issues including digital violence against women, security operations, and economic stability.
Agreement with Digital Platforms to Combat Violence
A central focus of the conference was the signing of a voluntary collaboration agreement with digital platforms – Google, TikTok, and Meta – to combat violence in the digital sphere. Secretary of Women, Citlalli Hernández, presented the agreement, highlighting a rise in cyberbullying cases from 16.1 million to 18.9 million in the last four years.
The agreement outlines nine preventative actions and eight care actions, including:
- Reviewing and strengthening community coexistence rules on social networks.
- Jointly creating and disseminating a digital security primer.
- Launching campaigns to promote educational messages and responsible technology use.
- Strengthening tools and policies to prevent and address violence.
- Immediate measures to address cases of violence.
- Creating a guide to report content and utilize protection tools on digital platforms.
- Linking violence reporting mechanisms with Line 079, option 1.
Notably, representatives from X (formerly Twitter) did not participate, citing a lack of offices in Mexico. Secretary Hernández expressed concern over the platform’s role in facilitating hate campaigns and the purchase of accounts used for attacks, particularly against women in public life.
Tribute to Fallen Service Members
President Sheinbaum announced she will lead a private tribute in Jalisco for members of the Armed Forces killed during the operation against “El Mencho.” She will return to Mexico City following the tribute.
Gasoline Price Stability
The President announced a voluntary agreement to maintain gasoline prices for the current week, aiming to provide economic relief to citizens.
