Shia LaBeouf Arrested in New Orleans During Mardi Gras Celebrations
Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, and charged with two counts of simple battery following an altercation in the French Quarter during Mardi Gras celebrations.
Details of the Arrest
According to the New Orleans Police Department, officers responded to a reported assault at a business located in the 1400 block of Royal Street around 12:45 a.m. . LaBeouf was allegedly causing a disturbance and became increasingly aggressive at a bar, identified as R Bar in the Faubourg Marigny by The Hollywood Reporter.
Police reports indicate that after being asked to leave the premises, LaBeouf allegedly struck one man multiple times with closed fists. He then reportedly returned to the bar and continued to assault the same victim, also allegedly punching another individual in the nose.
Multiple onlookers attempted to restrain LaBeouf until police arrived. He was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries before being arrested and charged.
Previous Legal Issues
LaBeouf has a history of legal issues, including previous arrests and a domestic violence lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend, FKA twigs.
Court Appearance
Following his release from jail, LaBeouf appeared in a virtual hearing before a judge and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 19.
