Bogdan Bogdanov Charged in Death of Alexander Penchev in Shumen

Shumen, Bulgaria – Bogdan Bogdanov, 28, of Shumen, has been formally charged with causing the death of 26-year-old Alexander Penchev, whose body was discovered in an abandoned building on March 10th. The announcement was made at a press conference by Senior Commissioner Georgi Gendov, director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and District Prosecutor Orlin Kuzdov.

Details of the Investigation

The investigation began on March 8th, when a woman reported her brother, Alexander Penchev, missing. He was subsequently declared wanted. Authorities located Penchev’s body in the unfinished building of the Nursing Home in the “Boyan Balgaranov” neighborhood of Shumen.

Initial examination by a forensic doctor revealed no visible traumatic injuries. Although, a subsequent autopsy determined that Penchev died from massive blood loss in the abdominal cavity, likely caused by traumatic injuries.

Investigators established that Penchev and Bogdanov were together on the afternoon of March 7th. According to reports, the two were consuming a substance described as “smoking tea” containing narcotics. A dispute arose between the two men, leading to the fatal incident.

Current Status

Bogdanov is currently detained and faces criminal charges in connection with Penchev’s death. The investigation is ongoing.
