Singapore Airlines to Launch Flights to Western Sydney International Airport in November
Singapore Airlines (SIA) will commence daily non-stop flights between Changi Airport and the new Western Sydney International Airport on November 23, 2026, pending regulatory approvals. Tickets for the new route will be available for purchase starting March 25, 2026.
Flight Schedule and Aircraft
The Singapore-Western Sydney flight is scheduled to depart Changi Airport around 11:30 am. The return flight will depart Western Sydney International Airport for Singapore at 11:55 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (9:55 pm Singapore time). The journey is expected to take approximately 7.5 to 8.5 hours.
SIA will operate its Airbus A350-900 medium-haul aircraft on this route, which features a total of 303 seats, including 40 in Business Class and 263 in Economy Class.
Expanding Connectivity to Australia
The launch of these new services will increase SIA’s daily flights to Sydney to five, complementing its existing four daily flights to Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. SIA currently serves eight destinations across Australia, including Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney (Kingsford Smith).
Western Sydney Airport and its Advantages
Western Sydney International Airport, located approximately 44 kilometers west of Sydney’s Central Business District, is slated to open in late 2026. The airport is situated about 7 kilometers from the Blue Mountains. A key advantage of the new airport is its curfew-free status, allowing SIA to operate a midnight departure from Sydney, a service previously restricted by curfews at Kingsford Smith Airport.
Industry Resilience Amidst Challenges
Despite the ongoing global fuel crisis stemming from the Iran war, Singapore Airlines has reaffirmed its commitment to the new route. Western Sydney Airport’s chief executive, Simon Hickey, emphasized the aviation industry’s resilience and ability to navigate crises.
Other airlines expected to begin operations at Western Sydney International Airport include Qantas, Jetstar, and Air New Zealand.
