Singapore Jails Man for Molesting Woman Claiming to be Father’s Workmate

SINGAPORE – Om Kumar Rai, 42, was sentenced to five months in jail on February 13, 2026, after pleading guilty to one count of using criminal force with intent to outrage modesty. The incident occurred on June 17, 2025, when Rai approached a 22-year-old woman and falsely claimed to be acquainted with her father.

Details of the Incident

According to court documents, Rai approached the woman around midnight. He initiated a conversation, stating he was a workmate of her father. He then extended his hand and when the woman offered a handshake, he instead grasped her hand and kissed it twice The Straits Times.

Despite the woman attempting to withdraw her hand, Rai persisted in holding it and guided her to a staircase landing, where he molested her NDTV. The woman managed to push him away and reported the incident to the police the following morning.
