Singapore Launches Kampong AI: A Recent Hub for AI Innovation

Singapore is solidifying its position as a global AI leader with the development of Kampong AI, a new park in one-north designed to foster collaboration and innovation within the artificial intelligence sector. The park, announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong on March 2, 2026, will feature both workspaces and residential facilities, aiming to attract promising AI start-ups and talent to Singapore.

A Hub for AI Excellence

Kampong AI, meaning “village” in Malay, is envisioned as a focal point where talent, researchers, and resources converge to create a thriving AI ecosystem. DPM Gan described it as a place to “create synergy and nurture a deep ecosystem,” accelerating collaboration and serving as a “centre of gravity for AI excellence.” Source

LaunchPad @ One-North Revamp

The AI park will be located within LaunchPad @ One-North, comprising two refurbished blocks. One block will offer 14,500 square meters of office space and event areas, accommodating up to 70 companies. The second block will provide 200 residential units, creating a unique integrated community for AI professionals. Broader AI Initiatives

Kampong AI is one component of a broader strategy to position Singapore as a leading location for AI development and deployment. Alongside Kampong AI, the government is launching two additional initiatives: AI Missions and Champions of AI. Source

  • AI Missions: These initiatives will focus on driving AI transformation across four key sectors: advanced manufacturing, connectivity, finance, and healthcare.
  • Champions of AI: This program will provide tailored support, including leadership and workforce training, to companies aiming to comprehensively integrate AI into their businesses. Source

Timeline and Pilot Phase

Kampong AI is slated for completion in 2028. Source A pilot phase will launch later in March 2026, allowing AI firms and start-ups to utilize existing workspaces in Blocks 67, 71, 73, 75, 77, 79 and 81 Ayer Rajah Crescent. Source

Ecosystem and Potential Occupants

LaunchPad @ One-North already boasts a thriving start-up community, having hosted over 2,400 start-ups since 2015, including tech unicorns like Grab, Razer, Carousell, Patsnap, and Nium. Several organizations have already expressed interest in establishing a presence at Kampong AI, including Weston Robot, SoftBank Robotics, the National Robotics Programme’s Embodied AI Centre, and the Singapore AI Safety Hub. Expansion to Punggol Digital District

JTC also plans to establish a new LaunchPad within the Punggol Digital District, starting in late 2026. This space will focus on start-ups developing smart city solutions, robotics, and cybersecurity technologies. Source
