Singer Lee Sang-soon Returns to MBC Radio After Medical Hiatus for Vagus Nerve Disorder
Singer Lee Sang-soon has returned to hosting his MBC FM4U radio program, Perfect Day, It’s Lee Sang-soon, after taking a medical leave of absence for more than a month due to a vagus nerve disorder, mt.co.kr reported. “I’ve been away from my seat for a long time,” Lee said on air, according to mt.co.kr. “It’s been more than a month, and I feel both sorry and grateful to you all.”
Lee explained that he stepped away from the microphone in late August after experiencing sudden health issues while at the MBC building. On Aug. 26, guest singer Thomas Cook filled in for the host as Lee rested in the station’s medical room. By Sept. 6, Lee shared details of his diagnosis with the audience, explaining that medical staff advised him to rest due to “vagus nerve hypofunction,” a neurological symptom requiring stable conditions and recovery time.
Recovery Progress and Future Broadcasting Plans
Resting has helped restore his energy levels, though his recovery is still ongoing, mt.co.kr reported. Lee told listeners that while he hasn’t fully healed, his eagerness to reconnect prompted him to ask producers for an Oct. 1 return date.
“Think of it as me having taken a slightly long vacation,” Lee said on the broadcast. He added that he plans to pace himself moving forward to protect his health. “I’m going to rest frequently from now on. I’ll take occasional vacations and take it easy so I don’t harm my health. I need to meet you all for a long time, so I’ll manage my health well.”
During Lee’s absence, the program utilized a rotation of special DJs to maintain the schedule. Lee married singer Lee Hyori in 2013, and the couple moved their broadcast and professional activities between Seoul and Jeju Island in recent years before Lee took on the MBC FM4U afternoon time slot.
