San José State Softball Falls to UC Davis 4-0
DAVIS, Calif. – The San José State softball team (5-14, 0-0 MW) suffered a 4-0 loss to UC Davis (10-8, 0-0 Big West) on Friday at La Rue Field, concluding the Capital Classic tournament.
Aggies Take Early Lead
UC Davis established a lead early in the game, scoring a single run in each of the first three innings to build a 3-0 advantage. The Spartans attempted to mount a comeback in the later innings, but were unable to break through against the UC Davis pitching.
Defensive Resilience, Offensive Struggles
Despite the loss, SJSU’s defense showcased resilience, turning three ground-ball double plays to limit the damage and keep the game within reach. Although, the Spartans’ offense struggled, failing to record a hit with runners in scoring position.
Burdick Leads Spartans at the Plate
Sophia Burdick led San José State, going 2-for-2 at the plate. Sarah Deplitch also saw playing time as a catcher for the Spartans.
