SK Hynix Drops Nasdaq Listing Plan for Solidigm

SK Hynix has decided to halt its consideration of a Nasdaq stock market listing for its U.S. subsidiary Solidigm, removing dual-listing concerns, bizwatch.co.kr reported. The decision shifts direct responsibility for Solidigm’s investment funding back to the parent company, raising new questions regarding future shareholder return capacity ahead of an upcoming corporate earnings disclosure on Oct. 28.

SK Hynix Shares Climb as Dual-Listing Issue Ends

Following the formal announcement, SK Hynix shares climbed 4.42% to close at 1,277,000 won on the Korea Exchange. While morning trading began with mild weakness, the stock rebounded as investors welcomed the removal of the double-listing issue, which had been widely cited as a primary factor lagging SK Hynix behind Samsung Electronics. LS Corp subsidiary LS Securities researcher Jung Da-won noted that the dual-listing issue of Solidigm was a core reason for the lagging stock performance. Daishin Securities researcher Lee Kyung-min stated that the cancellation factored in domestic capital market conditions alongside shareholder sentiment. Here, global semiconductor stock weakness and artificial intelligence investment pressures combined to pull SK Hynix shares down by over 30% from the previous month to the following month.

SK Hynix Assumes Full Funding for Solidigm

Canceling the public offering removes a primary independent capital-raising mechanism for Solidigm, leaving SK Hynix entirely responsible for financing its US-based NAND flash memory subsidiary. iM Securities researcher Yang Hyun-kyung observed that while discounting and equity dilution concerns tied to dual-listing fade, external capital raising opportunities diminish and future investment funding obligations grow heavier. Subsidiary Solidigm was originally created in 2021 after SK Hynix acquired Intel Corporation’s NAND flash business unit.

Tech Selloff Deepens, SK Hynix Scraps Solidigm US IPO Plans

Analysts Anticipate Stronger Shareholder Return Measures

Market analysts maintain that avoiding dual-listing value destruction outweighs the loss of independent funding channels, as Solidigm’s intrinsic value remains intact for parent company equity holders. Meritz Securities researcher Kim Sun-woo indicated that the IPO termination shows that direct shareholder return policies are important and anticipates stronger return measures during October. 28 earnings presentation. Concurrently, DS Securities researcher Kim Soo-hyun pointed out valuation disparities, noting that the price gap between domestic shares and American Depositary Receipts reached 46.8% as of Oct. 21. This price difference between the main shares and ADRs can look like a symbol of the Korean market’s undervaluation to foreign investors, and it is difficult to leave it ignored like this, Kim Soo-hyun said.
