Maritime College Athletes Honored for Sportsmanship in Fall 2025 Season

THROGGS NECK, NY – Five Maritime College student-athletes were recognized for their exemplary sportsmanship during the Fall 2025 season by the Skyline Conference. The honorees – Emily Bryant, Eric Schmidt, Sara Williams, Jake Rodriguez, and Joan Anastasiades – were selected for upholding the conferenceS commitment to fair play and respect [[1]].
Recognizing Excellence On and off the Field
The Skyline Conference All-Sportsmanship Team highlights student-athletes who demonstrate integrity and leadership in both competition and throughout their daily lives. According to Skyline Commissioner Melissa Reilly, “Sportsmanship is a cornerstone of the Skyline Conference and of the student-athlete experience. These honorees represent the very best of our conference.”
The Honorees
- emily Bryant (Women’s Cross Country): Consistently a top finisher for the Privateers in every meet she competed in.
- Eric Schmidt (Men’s Cross country): played a key role in the men’s team achieving fifth-place finishes at both the Skyline and ECAC Championships.
- Sara Williams (Women’s soccer): Served as a team captain and contributed three assists while starting all 14 games.
- Jake Rodriguez (Men’s Soccer): A team captain who scored a goal against Mount St. Vincent before a season-ending injury.
- Joan Anastasiades (Volleyball): Became a starting libero late in the season and ranked second on the team in digs.
Skyline Conference Commitment to Sportsmanship
The All-Sportsmanship Team includes one student-athlete from each member institution for every fall sport sponsored by the conference. Nominations are made by each team’s head coach.
