Southeastern Louisiana Golf Set to Compete at Colin Montgomerie-HCU Invitational

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) men’s golf team will resume competition this week at the Colin Montgomerie-HCU Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas. This marks a return to action for the Lions after a recent tournament.

Tournament Details

The invitational will feature 14 teams competing on the par-71, 6,689-yard course. Live scoring will be available on the SLU athletics website, courtesy of host HCU.

Competing Teams

In addition to Southeastern Louisiana and host Houston Christian University (HCU), the field includes fellow Southland Conference members New Orleans, UIW, Nicholls and East Texas A&M. Other participating teams are North Dakota, Weber State, Central Michigan, Missouri State, Howard, Prairie View A&M, Midland College, and Texas Southern. Individual golfers from Rice and Houston will also be competing.

SLU Lineup and Pairings

Southeastern will be paired with Central Michigan, the University of New Orleans (UNO), and Missouri State for the first two rounds on Monday. The SLU team consists of David Marsh, Lorenzo Palmieri, Griffin Dorr, Noah Bumgarner, and Colby Sullivan. David Marsh recently led the Lions with a 14th-place finish at the Gulf Coast Collegiate.

Looking Back at Last Year

SLU finished fifth in the 2025 Colin Montgomerie Invitational. Colby Sullivan and Griffin Dorr, both members of this year’s starting five, tied for 26th place, with Sullivan carding a final-round 69.

Next Up for the Lions

Following the Colin Montgomerie-HCU Invitational, Southeastern Louisiana will take a break from competition before traveling to Dickson, Tennessee, to participate in the Austin Peay Intercollegiate on March 23-24.
