Singapore Management University (SMU) has achieved a landmark milestone in global higher education, emerging as the world’s most improved university among institutions with 10 or more ranked subjects in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026. This recognition underscores a broad-based academic uplift, with eight of the university’s ten ranked subjects climbing in global standings.
Breaking Into the Global Top 50
The 2026 rankings highlight significant breakthroughs in SMU’s core academic strengths. Two of its primary disciplines have now entered the global top 50, marking a major milestone for the institution:

Managed by the Yong Pung How School of Law—which celebrates its 20th anniversary next year—the programme rose 45 places to reach 56th globally.
