Society Integration Foundation Supports 14 Diaspora Projects

Latvia Funds Diaspora Initiatives with €179,120 in Grants

RIGA – The Society integration foundation (SIF) has announced the approval of 14 project applications designed to bolster the activities of diaspora-based non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The funding, totaling €179,120, aims to strengthen connections between Latvians living abroad and their homeland, reinforce national identity, and encourage self-association within the diaspora community.

The SIF will distribute grants to a diverse range of organizations registered internationally, representing Latvian communities across the globe. Beneficiaries include the Latvian Community in Athens, Daugavas Vanagi in Germany, the Latvian Association in France, and the Latvian National Association in Canada. Further support will be allocated to the 2×2 Foundation, Daugavas Vanagi in Great Britain, the European Latvian Youth Association, and the european Latvian Association.

Additional organizations set to receive funding are the World Federation of Free Latvians, the latvian Community Association in the United Kingdom, the Latvian Diaspora in brazil, and several online platforms and research centers, including Latviesi.com,Economic Cooperation and Investments for Latvia,and the Latvians in the World – Museum and Research Center.

Each project is eligible for a maximum of €15,000 in funding. The SIF emphasized that these initiatives are crucial for maintaining a strong link with Latvians living abroad and fostering a sense of belonging and cultural continuity.
